In 1997 local community members made an application to Department of Social Community & Family affairs, which resulted in funding for a needs assessment. Representatives from various interests groups in the community came together to begin planning process. The Committee formed in 1999 after approval from the Department of Social Community & Family Affairs to set up and develop a 3-year strategic plan.

Drumlin CDP

The project has been fully operational since September 2001, with the employment of a Community Development Worker and a part time Administrator. In 2004 the Project secured additional funding to employ a part time development worker. The project was fully staffed until mid 2005. For a period of 18 months the project operated with only one staff member. During this period the management committee reviewed the operational environment of the project. The result was a raft of new policies and procedures and clarification on the project catchments area. The process resulted in a stronger management group with clear goals. The original members of the management of Drumlin CDP were able to move on as they had built the capacity of new members and could hand over responsibility. Late in 2006 the Project recruited a Project Coordinator, a part time Development Worker and an Administrator, completed a comprehensive community consultation and sourced more suitable accommodation.
